I'm pretty sure someone mentioned it some way back in the posts, but a reasonably elegant way of solving the 'No Retroactive Missions' issue would be to charge an amount of gold such that retroactively filling a book (NM or HM) would cost (give or take) the amount of gold you'd get for handing in that book (again, different for NM or HM).
Thus, people get their XP, get their Faction (which is what we all want, right? Right?) and the economy doesn't get an overnight 10billion cash injection and keel over.
Parson Brown, it's only 120k in Z-keys if someone buys them off you, thus no 'new' gold introduced into the economy, which is different to the gold that would be added if the Books were made Retro-fillable.

And no, I'm sure as hell not doing it over again.

I am someone with legendary guardian i don't really see how not having retro book affects me at all, so i lose a little xp/plat/rep points so what, i got my legendary guardian because i enjoyed having a little bit more of a challenge and guess what i had fun! =O
I won't be doing all the missions again but i don't really see how this is a kick to those who have done it already.

Parson_Brown, that money however isn't generated by the game. That money is just transfered from one player to another, not created. Not the same thing. Wouldn't have the same economic impact.
Another point, I find it ironic that the same people who are going "OMG noobs have been given easy mode to get titles easier" are often also the same ones going "OMG not giving me 100s of platinum retroactively because I'm legendary guardian."
Basically... people are all for "handouts" (for lack of a better word)... when they are for them. But not when they are for somebody else.

The Tales of Young Heroes book is the chronicle of the HM missions leading up to those found in the other books. filling them all out would lead to Legendary guardian minus normal mode versions of the Young Heroes missions, which are easy anyway.

I think too many people (even the ones complaining) are happy about the wisdom/treasure hunter titles to notice (you can't deny that is a good idea, since everybody just moved their golds and IDed them on one character anyway).

I was more meaning those like that said things like "worse update ever" and "no PvP changes? Failz" that quickly get deleted (and thank god for that).

The book thing was badly done, but whatever is what i say. So your MAIN character has Legendary Guardian. Go on a newer character who doesn't have them. That is if you want full books.
Edit: New build? Wonder what it fixes. -hopes for the book, my only real issue-

To everyone QQ'ing over non-retroactive books, do you realize it sounds like a noob saying, "Giev monies plz!"? If they did make the boks retroactive, a ton of gold would have hit the market instantly. At least this way, now everyone is on a equal playing field to filling in their books and receiving their rewards.
To the one who said that, "...achievements aren't meant to be all fun", I feel sorry for you. I can only hope that you find video games fun again some time soon.
Anet did a wonderful job with this update and I'm sure they're still looking over things in case they need to iron out anything.
P.S. Does anyone know if the Turtles from the Jadeite Summon Stones use Siege Turtle Attack at all? I'd make one myself but jadeite is in short supply so I can't get my hands on one yet.
P.P.S Can't wait for Wintersday now!

what you think is not fun =/= what other people think is not fun
if you dont get what that means then....what it means is that just because you think a title is not fun......others may think that particular title is fun. simple as that.

yeh not me..i couldn't care less about the money i don't like the fact that those of us who actually had the dedication to put the time in and finish titles are now having our accomplishment cheapened by arena net's strange desire to make the game easy for noobs to reach endgame and get titles to display and things to dedicate..where's the reward for being a dedicated player?

Wow, this is so obvious it pains me that I have to say it to you: Have they beaten the missions already?
What's that you say? Yes, they have?
Well then, buddy, guess what: They've already worked for it.

Seriously, I CAN'T believe how many people are complaing that just because I beat Phrophecies on this character 3 years ago, I deserve a free 50k when I log in today. Actually, it is Guru. I take that back. I'm not surprised.

Already did the work = Not free.
I can't believe that this needs to be explained to people. And it isn't an even playing field. Playing through the game, in either difficulty, the first time around is no where near as painful as having to go back and do it again.

Dedication =/= grinding.
I'm pretty dedicated. I'll probablly (*fingers crossed*) get a closed GW2 beta invite. I have tons of titles too, including one of the most grindish (drunk). There is nothing to "cheapen." People who want to have their titles and gloat over others about their superiority have... issues. Plain and simple. GW was never designed to reward you for grind.

Actually, they're not. Someone just doing the campaigns now only has to complete each one once, but someone who's already done them has to complete them again (i.e. do twice the work) to get the same reward...

it... is... not... work. It's a game. You know, entertainment? Work is my contract law assignment I'm supposed to be doing now instead of browsing guru.
Read my other post. Doing the titles was supposed to be fun. It suddenly should not stop being fun just because you don't get free virtual money.
It is a level playing field because everybody from now on can earn it the same way. Even though you earned it before, its not like you expected to be rewarded for it at the time.
I still don't see why everybody is complaining really. With raptor farming, veaterr farming, and UW SC (still doable, even after the nerf) there are plenty of fast and efficient ways to earn money far faster then turning it a book anyways. It's not like anybody is a pauper in this game. Deflation is through the roof. Everybody has money. Money is meaningless in GW. Its not like having it will get you the uber sword of pwning that deals 99-180 damage like in other MMOs. There is no disadvantage (and if you have legendary guardian, you probablly already have money coming out of your butt, I know I do).

all-in-all, great update. storage space for the books will be an issue. at least the NF henchies all have elite now. the only problem i have with that is Aidan. he now has [practiced stance] and [heket's ram]. 2 stances, you really a henchie will be able to use those correctly? really?
